Bring back the sunshine please

I wanted to make a contrast between the usual Bondi Beach, and Bondi beach today following the storm.  The weather has been so appalling the last 24 hours, and there has also been a king tide.  These two combined have caused some very big and rough conditions on Sydney's beaches.  The storm last night was pretty scary, we were told some of the wind gusts were the strength of a Category 2 cyclone.   Today it is squally, and pretty damn cold for Sydney.  Feels like the air is coming from Antarctica.  Although the current temperature is 14 Celsius, the weather bureau tells us the apparent temperature is actually 5 Celsuis (that's 41 Fahrenheit) so it does feel chilly out there.

To cheer myself up, I wanted to post some pictures of Bondi in the sunshine.  That's right, these photos were not taken today.  It was getting late in the afternoon, you can see the shadows of the westerly sun.   It was a beautiful day, perfect even.

And this is the pool at Bondi Icebergs Club.  Weird people swim here in winter when it's freezing.  They even chuck in large blocks of ice to make it colder.  That's why they call it Icebergs.

We were having a beer on the balcony above the pool

The video link I posted above (here it is again) shows this pool submerged by the storm surge and surf today.  I think we'll see sand, seaweed and fish in this pool when everything settles down.

We are going to Cairns in far North Queensland next week, where it will be warm!  Yep, winter is the best time for us southerners to get up there.  Can't wait.  Bring it on.
